File IRS Form 990, 990EZ or N-post card

Legionnaires:
Reminder to all BCAL American Legion posts: File IRS Form 990, 990EZ or N-post card
Federal tax regulations require every American Legion post to file IRS Form 990, 990EZ, or N-post card.. This must be filed by the 15th day of the fifth month after the end of your organization’s accounting period. For example, if your calendar year ends May 31, the form is due November 30..
The American Legion is tax-exempt under Section 501 (c)(19) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954, as amended. Every post needs to obtain an Employer Identification Number from the government to be listed as a tax-exempt charter of the Legion.
Download the IRS Form 990 at www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f990.pdf.
