Passing of Past County Commander Frank Jiosi, Sr.

Statement from Bergen County American Legion Commander
Francis Carrasco on the Passing of
Frank Jiosi, Sr.,
Past Department Vice Commander, and Past County Commander

On behalf of the entire Bergen County American Legion Family, I want to express my sincere, heartfelt condolences to the family of Frank Jiosi, Sr.

A past Post 139 and County Commander, current BCAL Trustee, and Central Relief and Centennial Committee member, Frank’s sound judgment could always be counted on for the good of the Legion.

A Vietnam era vet, Frank joined the United States Marine Corps in 1961, did basic training at Paris Island, and spent a combined 26 years with the Marines and the Marine Reserves, holding the rank of gunnery sergeant. During Operation Desert Storm, Frank’s Marine Reserves unit shipped out to Iraq in 1990. He was with the Sixth Motor Transport Battalion out of Red Bank, New Jersey, and ran supplies 24-hours a day for six months to his fellow Marines on the front lines.

Frank’s wake will be held at Nazare Funeral Home, 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst on Wedesday, September 11, from 4pm to 8pm.

Post 139 will hold services at 7:00 the funeral home, followed by a gathering at the Post.

Semper Fi, Marine. You will be missed

For God and Country,

Francis A. Carrasco
Bergen County Commander
