Bergen County American Legion Camp4Heroes Project
Bergen County American Legion’s 2017-2018’s project is to raise the funds to sponsor the building of a cabin for families to stay at Camp4Heroes. Camp4Heroes is a retreat for severely injured Veterans, Firefighters, Police Officers, and their Caregivers. The cost to build a cabin is between $30-50K.
Their mission is to create a place of tranquility, relaxation, learning, and rebuilding a retreat for life, love and respect to promote healing. The camp is located on an 80-acre tract of land on Zimp Road in Fairmont, NC (between Fort Bragg and Camp Lejeune) with a 9-acre lake. This camp will be a point of refuge where they can support one another and their healing can begin. Some of the activities that are planned to be offered include art therapy, music therapy, growing crops, raising farm animals, archery, skeet shooting, fishing, and much more. They will also offer retreats and activities for Caregivers, Gold Star Families, etc.
As we did with the Paramus Veteran’s Home Project there will be a plaque mounted in the cabin listing all those that donated to this extremely worthwhile project.
As you all know PTSD impacts many of our veteran’s today and is not limited to veterans, first responders experiencing a traumatic incident also shows signs of PTSD and experience the same issues.
Therefore it is my hope that you will contribute to this project, so their healing may continue. You can make your checks out to BCAL-Camp4Heroes and mail to BCAL c/o Bob Salvini, 54 Thiem Ave. Rochelle Park, NJ 07662.
