Bergen County American Legion Donates Second Bus
On Wednesday March 4, 2015 as Commander of the Bergen County American Legion organization, I was honored to have presented the keys to a second new bus for use by the residents of the NJ Veteran’s Memorial Home in Paramus. This came about due to the generous donations of many organizations and individuals.
As you know the Legion kicked off a Bergen County effort to raise $85,000 for a much needed new bus. The project which kicked off officially October 25th, 2013 to date has raised $165,736.48. The first bus was delivered to the home in April 2014, cost only $81,050.00 thanks to discounts provided by the Alliance Bus Company of Carlstadt, and again thanks to Alliance the 2nd bus delivered March 4th costs $68,168.76. The 2nd bus delivered will accommodate 8 full size wheel chairs or 18 residents and any combination of both. It replaces a bus which accommodated only 4 wheel chairs and 18 residents. A 3rdbus which we anticipate to deliver early next year would be replacing an aging bus that accommodates 4 wheel chairs (all of the old buses could not accommodate the new full size electric chairs).
Again anyone willing to make a donation can send a check made out to Bergen County American Legion Bus Fund, c/o Bob Salvini, 54 Thiem Ave Rochelle Park, NJ 07662.
In addition for those who need to donate to a 501(C) 3 you can donate to the American Legion Charities Trust, Finance Division, The American Legion, PO Box 1055, Indianapolis, IN 46206. Please insure the donation is clearly marked for Bergen County American Legion Paramus Vet’s Home Bus Fund.
And should you have any questions feel free to email me at email@example.com.
