altFellow Legionnaires,
It is hard to believe a year has come and gone so fast. It has truly been an honor to have served as Commander for the Largest County in the state and I hope that I and my team have lived up to your expectations.
As a team we have accomplished many of the initiatives that we felt need to be done in order to get the Big B back on track.
We revived the Oratorical Contest in the county and our 1st Place contestant won at the district level and came in 4th at the state level. We feel that now that we have the first year under our belt, and what is expected, we will do better next year.
We revamped the Americanism Program in order to accommodate for Posts that cover multiple schools in their home town and for those that cover neighboring towns who do not have a post and have increased the number of awards presented as well.
We revamped the communication channels from the county to the post which has generated a revived participation by posts in county meetings.
We put together a Public Relations process that allows us to communicate about the many programs the legion sponsors not only for our fellow comrades, but also for the community and our youth.
We created and launched a state of the art WEB site for the Legion Family and have provided the ability for each post to have its own page created and maintained either by an assigned editor of that post, or by our Web master.
We redid our Constitution and by-laws to bring them into the 21st century as they had not been modified or changed since 1989.
We adapted our meeting schedule to include a couple of Saturday sessions and the trial was a success and we look forward to increasing them for 2012-2013.
We’ve done a done better in membership this year over last year, but still have work to do to get to 100% and beyond. With more posts utilizing MyLegion.org I know we will get there next year.
I again want to thank you for your faith in me and my team and especially what to thank my hard working team for all they have done to make this year a successful one and I hope you will provide me the opportunity to serve again for the 2012-2013 year so that my team can continue to build on these successes in order to keep the improvements going.

Sincerely,
Bob Salvini
Commander
